Art education: Journals

Printed journals

The emphasis of journal acquisition is on electronic journals, but also printed journals and periodicals are still subscribed.

Current year and five latest volumes of periodicals are in reading room at Learning Centre´s 2nd floor.

  • Journals can not be loaned.
  • Journals can be searched by title or ISSN number using the Aalto-Primo Journal-search.

The majority of older volumes are located in open mobile shelf system on K-floor. Some old and fragile titles are located in closed Special-collection. Material from the closed stock can be asked for use at the customer service.

What is a scholarly article?

Scholarly articles are published in scholarly journals (academic journals). Scholarly articles are written by experts in a particular academic discipline and intended for an academic audience.

The quality of articles in the majority of scholarly journals is guaranteed by peer review. The submitted articles are reviewed by other scholars in the field, and they also decide on their publication.

Many databases allow you to limit your search to academic, scolarly or peer-reviewed articles.
