Briefly about theses in Aalto University

  • The master's theses of Aalto University and its predecessors are permanently preserved in electronic or printed format
  • The Learning Centre archives new master’s theses only in electronic format.
  • Printed archive copies of the theses are located in closed storage. You can read printed theses only in the premises of the Harald Herlin Learning Centre. You must place an order in advance. You cannot borrow theses.
  • Theses in electronic format are available in the Aaltodoc database. A full text version of the thesis is available if the author has given permission to that.
  • Printed doctoral theses are located on the first floor or in other collections of the Learning Centre. Doctoral theses can be borrowed.
  • Electronic versions are available in the Aaltodoc repository.
  • You can read electronic theses, which are not available in open network, at the Harald Herlin Learning Centre customer computers.
  • Electronic theses, which are not available in the open network, can be sent to customers if asked. All requests must be sent to

What are you allowed to do with the theses?

  • you can print theses for your personal study and research purposes
  • you can take photocopies of the thesis for your personal study and research purposes
  • you do not have the right to publish the thesis on a webpage, forward it in an email or publish it in any other way
  • you cannot scan theses into files
  • you cannot borrow printed archive copies of theses
  • paper copies of theses won’t be submitted to customers by mail
